A plate, a chair that is not an office chair, and twenty unhurried minutes in the middle of the day.
Lunch had quietly become an input — something consumed at the keyboard between messages. The change was minimal: the same food, moved two rooms away, eaten sitting down without a screen.
Twenty minutes turned out to be enough. Meals registered as meals, the afternoon slump softened, and the reflex to reach for a snack at three o'clock faded on most days. None of it required new recipes or rules about what to eat — only where and how.
If a full break is impossible, begin with two lunches a week away from the desk. Protect those two, and let the rest follow when they are ready.
